Human Resource – HR policies and procedures are basically the formal rules & regulations. It gives an organization the basic guidelines which businesses need to carry forward while implementing those in place. There is some of the most important human resource policies mentioned as follows.

Workforce regularity and attendance policy

Attendance that complies with the hr plan clearly states the expectation that the workforce must be on time and equipped to work for their respective scheduled shifts. It is also pertinent to mention that the procedures for informing management of late arrival or unexpected absence. In hr policy making one should consider those points very carefully.

Health and protection

The Professional Safety and Health Act require employers with certain workplace hazards to have specific safety regulations in place. Aside from these legal requirements, including emergency and safety procedures in your employee handbook is a good idea. You should be aware of hr policy in Pakistan, elaborate on the parameters that human capital must take if a workplace trauma occurs, and also mention the presumption that all work-related accidents must be notified.

Payment and timekeeping approach

A timekeeping policy goes over the significance of accurately tracking work hours and the proper procedures for recording them. You can also include effective hr policies regarding payday that enlightens employees about important characteristics regarding their reimbursement. Usually In hr policy making following points are missed out:

  • Accurately defined protocol for when a payday occurs on a holiday.
  • Pay methods.
  • Frequency of paydays.

Meal and break policy

All organizations must provide employees with breaks for meals, rest and lactation. Establishing effective hr policies and procedures for these requirements permits you to implement the rules and restrictions regarding these break tenures, including the duration and frequency.

Leave and time off work policy

Local specific requirements for leave that you must include in your organization’s employee handbook, such as voting leave. You should also review the organization’s policies regarding employee time off benefits. There are many different types of hr policies and procedures regarding leave, including:

  • Leave of absenteeism.
  • Bereavement leave.
  • Parental leave.
  • Family leave.
  • Sick leave.
  • Leave for Vacation.
  • Statutory holidays leave.

Employment categorization policy

There are numerous classifications for employees that can influence their eligibility for employee benefits. For instance, part-time employees are often ineligible for healthcare benefits through their employer. According to hr policy in Pakistan, you should clearly elaborate these classifications in your worker’s handbook.

Non-discrimination and anti-harassment guidelines

One can ensure that your workplace remains safe for all employees by establishing strong designed HR policies and procedures that curtail discrimination and harassment.

Recruitment policy

An at-will recruitment policy defines that the employee or organization can dissolve their working relationship for any lawful reason and at any time. Most provinces recognize at-will employment, and organizations typically consider it an hr policy in Pakistan. Because of this, one must place this statement at the starting of the employee handbook and again on the handbook’s acknowledgement form.

Social media policy

Many organizations have begun including a social media policy in employee handbooks to protect the company’s online credibility. You should further define the topics or information that employees cannot post on social media. Elaborate on the disciplinary action taken if they violate one of these stipulated rules; make t a part of your hr policy making.

Telecommuting policy

The advancement of technology has enabled many employees to work remotely instead of in the main office. One should incorporate it in their hr policy making part if not done now. Explain your organization’s stance on remote work, and then list the HR plan & its related policies for telecommuting. These should include things like:

  • Positions that is eligible for working remotely.
  • Any limitations for remote roles.
  • How you monitor remote employees.
  • Pay and time policies.
  • The organization’s right to put a stop to telecommuting at any moment.

Firearms in the workplace policy and protocols

Employers are solely responsible for the safety and well being of their workers. You can either define violence and potential firearms policies in a more generalized safety policy or address them on your own. Either way, elaborate on the types of weapons you consider weapons, prohibited behavior and any disciplinary measures.

Alcohol and drug policy

While keeping in mind the hr policy in Pakistan regarding certain substances, draft a policy that outlines the organization’s stance on drugs and, particularly, alcohol. It is pertinent to mention which substances you prohibit, any testing procedures you use and the disciplinary action for violations of this policy.

Solitude Policy

Secretive and confidential policies communicate the specific topics that employees must keep private. Provide examples of confidential information, employees’ obligations, and the consequences for violating the organization’s confidentiality policy.

Personal device policy

Many employees are in favour of using their own devices, like personal computers, tablets and smart phones, for company or business enterprise. Due to this reason, one must scrutinize measures. Tackle things like what personal devices employees can use for work, how you will monitor them and any limitations or security requirements.
